Hello world!

Programmers' first creations usually utter these two words as their entry into the world of computers. It's a pretty daunting task at first, having only minimal knowledge of the language and the constructs involved. But once you get the basics right, everything falls into place.

This entry is quite like that: (not quite) my first attempt at a website. I've tried more than once to start a site, but I've always been foiled with what to place in it. I wanted a site that had something unique to offer. I didn't want a site which proclaimed how great I was (not that I wouldn't mind one), or how great my country was.

Instead, I've decided to create an online journal of my experiences living in Metro Manila. I've decided to write a free forum; anyone can comment on this site, and I will publish their essays. However, this site represents primarily my views and my opinions.

Do you have any idea how long I've tried to put up a site? Two years. Damn. I can't believe it took me that long to conceive of this site. Of course, a journal never occurred to me then. I was always thinking of something that could help others, yada, yada. "Delusions of grandeur," so to speak.

But, I had to face the facts. I couldn't put up such a site. It would come out forced and unnatural. It was too artificial, not me.

So this is it. This is my site. The birth pains were long, but after all of it, I'm proud being its conceiver.
